Source Area / Remedial Characterization

The size and magnitude of the source area often dictates the remedial strategy. Unfortunately,  most site assessments focus more on determining plume extent only. Remedial screening tools are more available than ever before in our industry and are often employed prior to an in-situ remedial application to provide a rapid, cost effective means of targeting cleanup areas. Some examples of these screening tools include:

  • Continuous Soil Profiling Using Direct Push Technology (DPT)
  • Soil Headspace Screening Using Photoionization Detectors or Flame Induced Detectors (PID/FID)
  • Vertical Groundwater Profiling Using DPT Samplers
  • X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) Metal Screening in Soils
  • Color-indicator/reagent test kits
  • NAPL color indicator kits
  • Immunoassay Kits
  • Mobile Lab Sampling
  • DPT plus MIP/EC logger
  • Laser Induced Fluoresence
